A recent study showed that certain vitamins may be harmful in older women. The major culprit was Iron. Typically, we do not give iron supplementation without first checking levels. The other issue was that calcium may be beneficial. This is contrary to a recent study that started the vitamin could actually worsen cardiovascular risk.
One of the key issues is that neither exact doses nor particular versions of the supplements were mentioned in the study. Many of the results were not statistically significant ,yet were mentioned as a negative result .
I do agree that we do not receive proper doses from our foods, but one must be careful when taking the rest of this study as completely accurate without further interpretation of the data.
